Despierta's Teas Awaken the Mind With Its Mystic Packaging Design

Oneirogenics are substances that enhance or induce dream-like consciousness. Some of these are potent hallucinogens, like Salvia Divinorum. Others, however, promote lucidity while awake or asleep and mental wellness without being psychoactive.

Dulce Ruby, a multidisciplinary artist, speaker, mediation guide, and coach, realized that she could help people heal and improve beyond just hosting retreats and speaking engagements. Dulce went to work for two years blending science, art, and spirituality, through plants, just as her Mexican family and ancestors have done for centuries, creating a new brand of tea called Despierta, which means “awaken” or “awake” in Spanish.

Ruby conceived the Despierta brand and worked with Our Kind studio to bring her concept to the world. Despierta launched this month with three blends to improve sleep, aiding lucid dreaming and daytime wellness.

Packaging makes excellent use of typography, reinforcing the celestial and mystical sides of Despierta’s brand identity. Packaging colors are inspired by the tea ingredients, like Morning Mystic’s turmeric, Astral Traveler’s passionflower and blue lotus, and Celestial Calm’s lavender and butterfly pea flower. All of Despierta’s teas also come infused with relevant crystal essences.

"The magic of mysticism is brought to life via a pack design which tells the story of transformation, the journey, and exploration through the astral realm," said Our Kind of the design. "We ask our customers to envision themselves and their dreams via the illustrations; crafted with spiritual symbolism. Each pack creates a unique journey or landscape; relating to the use of the product and the experience it delivers."

“Despierta is my baby and a true extension of me, my work, and my journey,” Ruby told Dieline. “I poured two years of love into its conception, and I’m just loving this first month since launching online.”
