Meet Alder New York: Skincare For Design People, By Design People

by Chloe Gordon on 04/19/2022 | 3 Minute Read

Alder New York is a queer and woman-founded vegan skincare company with inclusivity at the brand's core. The packaging design created by David Krause aims to be approachable to all. There's a highly welcoming aesthetic through the bold typeface, lack of color, and simplistic illustrations, avoiding any exclusivity elements.

Brooklyn-based founders, Nina Zilka and David J. Krause, started their career journeys as fashion designers who met at Pratt Institute, and in 2016, a passion for wellness led the duo to create Alder New York, where they married their appreciation for design and attention to detail taken from their fashion + art experience with effective personal care essentials that were sleekly-designed and made for every gender, skin type, ethnicity and age. Made by design people for design people, the founders felt that a holistic approach to design was missing in the personal care space - never finding products that truly met their clean standards but that also appealed to them both aesthetically. Due to this, Alder New York was born and created to never exclude, knowing that at the end of the day, the type of skin we have comes down to hormones and genetics and nothing to do with how one identifies, so they use ingredients known to be highly effective for all skin types - like glycolic acid, hyaluronic acid, and niacinamide.
