Quaker Oats Wants To Make 'Pre-Graining' A Thing With Its Oatmeal Six-Pack

The food typically associated with Super Bowl viewing isn’t known to be particularly wholesome. Items like beer, burgers, sausages, ribs, deviled eggs, pizza, and chicken wings dominate Big Game spreads. The healthiest things at the table are usually the ignored and limp stalks of carrots and celery sitting next to the blue cheese dip.
But for the fifty-sixth iteration of the NFL championship, Quaker Oats is ensuring one-hundred lucky fans and friends at least start Sunday, February 13th, with something nutritious in the tank.
As a way to encourage folks to “pre-grain” with a heart-healthy breakfast on Super Bowl Sunday, PepsiCo-owned Quaker Oats has unveiled its version of a six-pack. No, it’s not an oatmeal stout collab with a craft brewery; it is literally six cans of instant oatmeal. Instead of having to compete with the Superist of bowls, the new oatmeal six-pack allows folks gearing up for the gridiron battle to consume breakfast one-handed, just like that other grain-based treat commonly associated with football —beer.
Labels on the oatmeal cans prominently feature Larry the Quaker, and the six cans are kept together with a plastic six-ring holder that probably won’t do any turtles a favor if it gets into the ocean. The outer case is decidedly less sealife-killing cardboard topped with a handle.
“At Quaker, we're here to get fans just as excited about their game-day breakfast as they are about watching the Big Game, which is why we created oatmeal canisters specially designed with football viewing in mind,” said Kristin Kroepfl, vice president and chief marketing officer for Quaker North America at PepsiCo, via press release. “Cracking open that iconic Quaker Oats canister gives fans the chance to have a nutritious, heart-healthy breakfast time option game-day morning.”
Quaker Oats is giving away 100 “pre-grain” six-packs via sweepstakes over on its Instagram channel. Fans have until February 6th to enter to win.
