If you feel Pantoneâs Color of the Year, Viva Magenta, is a bit bland, the flavor experts at McCormick have just released its annual Flavor Forecast to spice things up.
This yearâs Flavor Forecast, McCormickâs 23rd edition, notes three significant trends for 2023, full-flavored fats, everyday French, and beyond heat. According to McCormickâs forecast, home cooks will embrace fats like butter and olive oil for taste and texture and incorporate French techniques and ingredients but in an unfussy way while adding their own cultural twist. Finally, McCormick sees heat stretch out of simply being spicy. Instead, taking it up a notch will form a part of a multisensory, layered experience where heat is a balanced part of the flavor profile.
