Oliver's Taranga 'The Greats' Wine Label Pays Homage To The Family

‘The Greats’ is a collection of reserve wines by Oliver’s Taranga. The winery recently worked with Byerlee Design to create a label design that pays homage to a pivotal forefather from the family’s six generations. While the portrait illustrations are already striking, the copper foil makes them shine, figuratively and literally. Additionally, custom caps and proprietary branded French-made bottles were created exclusively for 'The Greats,' proving the extraordinary attention to detail.

‘The Greats’ is an exceptional collection of reserve wines by Oliver’s Taranga in McLaren Vale, South Australia. The collection showcases their very best single vineyard wines. As their flagship wines, they also represent the Oliver family’s proud grape growing history in McLaren Vale - an ongoing 182 years spanning across 6 generations.

Previously, these reserve wines were part of the Oliver's Taranga folio, but a cohesive refresh was required - with the aim to highlight their past and showcase a premium appeal. Each label in the collection now pays homage to a pivotal forefather from the family’s 6 generations. An initial 3 forefathers are designated to 3 wines, with the ability to introduce more in future. Detailed portraits are at the forefront of the design; depicted from the Oliver’s family photo archives and executed in striking copper foil. For further personalisation, each forefather’s original signature accompanies the portrait.

In some cases, obtaining the signatures required a deep-dive into family documents and archives - all in the name of authenticity. Furthermore, each label is individually numbered to convey the small-batch volumes and rarity of these wines. To complete the package, custom caps and proprietary branded French-made bottles were created exclusively for 'The Greats'. The finished product is an authentic collection of wines to celebrate their legacy and garner the respect they've rightfully earned in Australian wine history.
