Stappa's Vibrant Charcoal Illustrations Add A Moody Touch To The Label's Design

by Chloe Gordon on 11/14/2022 | 2 Minute Read

Stappa's wine label is wildly authentic and celebrates a sense of craft and quality. Studio Chenchen helped Stappa discover its no-nonsense strategy, resulting in a packaging system commemorating the brand's original voice. The illustrative graphics created with charcoal create a deeply vibrant, textured aesthetic that aligns perfectly with a wine brand. The label is moody, obscure in all the right ways, and artistic enough to set this label apart from the masses.

Stappa curates obscure grape varieties from the best growers in Australia to develop small batch releases of delicious and interesting wine.  As a new entrant to Australia’s wine scene, Stappa wants to make its mark and assert its point of difference in a way that is authentic and engaging.

Dan and Rosie came to Studio Chenchen early in the journey to help craft a brand for their first release and launch. We loved Stappa’s vision and perspective on the industry. Through a collaborative strategy and concept development process, we helped Stappa to identify its niche and consolidated its story into an authentic personality and a clear Brand Narrative.

The brand concept, Grapes, Dirt and Gusto, brings a no-nonsense commitment to wine that celebrates a love for craft and quality but does away with dogma and pretense. The brand system differentiates between two product lines and creates a clear foundation for Stappa’s future plans. Applications were delivered across digital, print, merchandise, social media and beyond. Throughout Studio Chenchen’s service for Stappa, we’ve aimed to push beyond what’s expected, helping Dan and the team to launch and establish their brand authentically through restaurant collaborations and events, social media campaigns, and even a dial-in recording for those who read the cork.
