Say Goodbye To Single-Use Period Products, and Hello To Hello Period

Periods are natural, but the products and packaging within the menstrual care industry can be anything but that. Menstruators use tampons, often made from synthetic materials, with plastic applicators and pads made with chemical bleaching, and each of these items comes wrapped in individual plastic wrappers.

While finding sustainable period care brands was nearly impossible just a few years ago, it thankfully no longer is.

Hello Period is a sustainable period care brand that says goodbye to single-use products. Created from scratch, Hello Cups get made in New Zealand from the highest quality medical-grade thermoplastic elastomer (TPE). The products are also hypoallergenic and recyclable; they're also silicone, rubber, latex, and BPA-free.

According to the brand's website, one Hello Cup equals more than 2,000 single-use pads or tampons, with each cup lasting upwards of five years. Beyond the sustainable aspects of the brand, the packaging, designed by Alice Lloyd ofDaughter and Son, is just as impressive.

Leaning into a bright red shade, the bold logo makes a brief, youthful statement. The brand's well-known Hello Cup gets packed in a cardboard tube that's brightly color-blocked with a floral pattern lining the interior. Not only is the packaging fun and romantic, but it's a beautiful container to store the cup when you're not wearing it.

The brand's other products continue using the floral pattern throughout the packaging, some even in an all-black hue, rejecting the overly feminine stereotype that most brands solely offer.

When sustainability meets great design, the result is a brand consumers can feel connected to and proud to own, and Hello demonstrates why.
