Hormel Says 'Hold My Beer' And Unveils Chili Cheese Keg

When it comes to putting out a killer spread for big games, things like beefy chili and gooey cheese can take the tailgate or viewing party to another level. Hot dogs, nachos, and fries slathered in thick layers of chili and cheese can bring tears to a full-grown human adult's eyes.
In time for this year’s big football game, the one brands aren’t allowed to call out by name, like advertising’s Voldermort, Hormel is hooking up one lucky fan with a specially designed chili cheese keg.
The chili cheese keg is far from a standard mini key filled with deliciousness; Hormel integrated a controllable heater, pump, and tap handle modeled after a can of Hormel chili. The top of the keg gets set in red, with Hormel’s wordmark in yellow. Typography along the middle of the barrel makes use of different widths, adding a chic and modern touch to what is essentially a gargantuan vat full of chili cheese. The keg holds up to 15 gallons, enough for three-hundred 4oz servings, and the internal cauldron is also refillable for future use.
“We know fans want to snack big when they watch the most important football game of the year, but they also want to add some excitement to their usual options,” Corrine Hjelmen, Hormel Chili brand manager, said via press release. “What better way to show our fans how Hormel Chili can pour on the excitement than by creating a never-before-attempted innovation—a chili cheese keg?”
