Gear Hugger is a NEW plant-based, non-toxic, multi-purpose lubricant with 2x the lubricating power vs. petroleum-based products. Approximately 100,000 barrels of petroleum per day are used to create petroleum-based lubricants that we use on our gear, out in nature, and around our homes, according to the US Energy Information Administration. Gear Hugger was created to address this issue and is on a mission to help everyone sustainably relube, restore, and reuse with its revolutionary plant-powered lubricant.

In developing this unique, one-of-a-kind product, the packaging – from design elements to branding and the materials themselves – were thoughtfully created with nature and sustainability in mind. The overall look and feel for Gear Hugger’s packaging was inspired by our National Parks, and is a nod to a time when protecting and enjoying nature was a priority for society as a whole. The retro design harkens the outdoors with a simple yet stylized mountain range and organic color palette with earth tones that is breakthrough and unexpected in the lubricant category. With a bear riding a bike as the brand mascot and key design element, the logo itself takes the shape of being “hugged” to create a strong tie to the brand name.

Gear Hugger’s outer packaging is just as intentional. The recyclable aluminum cans feature a soft matte finish with specific areas left unfinished to allow the shine and brilliance of the aluminum to gleam, accentuating certain elements to further impart a retro vibe. Each can

also features a 90 degree adjustable built-in straw with two spray options – concentrated and wide – for a variety of applications on virtually any surface.

Gear Hugger’s unique formula protects against rust and corrosion without leaving toxic residue behind to keep outdoor gear in play for longer. Made with aluminum, the cans are 100% recyclable. The straw is connected to the can itself and has a built-in safety device that prevents the lubricant from leaking, so Gear Hugger can be sprayed from any angle. The formula is USDA Certified 96% Biobased and free of petroleum, fossil fuels and PTFEs – making it safe to use around children and pets. Gear Hugger is perfect for outdoor adventure, bicycles, home repairs, small electronic parts and mechanics, RV’s and so much more! With Gear Hugger, now anyone can keep their gear lasting longer, turning our throw- away society into an upkeep culture, so you can feel good about your impact on our planet.

Gear Hugger is the first plant-based alternative that eliminates toxic chemicals from entering homes and waterways. This plant-powered lubricant was created to protect the planet and to reduce waste by keeping gear lasting longer. Because Gear Hugger exists to protect the planet, the brand is shining a light on the harmful effects of the substances hidden in garage goods. More and more people are trying to be green but haven’t considered the impact of toxins lurking in their garages. Gear Hugger is here to educate people on harmful toxins like PTFEs and petroleum. PTFEs are often used as lubricants because of their hydrophobic and low-friction properties. They are toxic because of the carcinogens called PFOA. PTFE-coated surfaces also emit chemical byproducts when heated, which is especially dangerous to birds.

Additionally, the widespread use of petroleum-based lubricants contributes to PTFEs and harmful chemicals seeping into the groundwater and is harmful not only to wildlife but to plants and to the environment as a whole. Gear Hugger sources renewable, plant-based resources for its formula and can be recycled while also using minimal plastics and virgin materials.
