Indulge In Activism With A Pint Of Change Is Brewing From Laci Jordan And Ben & Jerry's

I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream that doubles as a pint of activism.

In a perfect collaboration, artist and creative director Laci Jordan teamed up with ice cream brand Ben & Jerry's to create a pint supporting The People's Act, an inclusive, holistic, and health-centered approach to public safety.

Laci received two Bachelor's degrees, one in criminal justice and the other in design, making this piece of packaging a perfect mashup of her specialties. To create a pint that wasn't too literal or designed with suffering at the forefront, Laci focused her packaging design on themes of Black liberation, love, freedom, and joy.

The design is positive, uplifting, and utterly filled with joy. Laci illustrated scenes of Black people painting, embracing, playing, being, loving, and living, this ice cream packaging is more than just that: it's a statement, a letter, an uplifting message. The front of the pint features a woman painting on an easel that reads, "Liberation." As you turn the pint, you'll find a couple hugging, a woman taking a picture of the beautiful scenery, a young girl happily skipping through the world, a mother and son sitting in a warm embrace, and a father and son playing catch with a football. The landscape is full of passion and vitality.

It's packaging that everyone would feel proud to present in their freezers. Not to mention even prouder to eat knowing that the cold brew coffee flavors get sourced from Black-owned businesses, and the marshmallows and fudge brownies come from Greyston, a non-profit social justice enterprise that creates job opportunities and provides services to enable self-sufficiency.

"With this pint, people that look like me will be able to see themselves in a world of joy," Jordan said in an interview about the collaboration. "And it is also mixed with the fact that it features ingredients from a Black-owned business and it's ice cream!—something that makes you feel good. Everyone needs to see themselves—and not just during Black History Month or when something extremely disheartening happens in the world. It needs to be an everyday thing."
