Spice It Up With Bachan’s Hot Sauce

Hot sauce, like many condiments, can make or break a meal. But, unlike other condiments, hot sauce is packed full of personality, fortitude, and power. Sure, that may sound dramatic, but think about how you felt the last time you ate something just a little too spicy: powerful, I’m sure of it.

Bachan’s hot sauce is filled with more personality than you could ever imagine. In fact, the recipe itself was inspired by Justin’s grandmother’s secret family recipe, and if that doesn’t scream “character,” I don’t know what will.

Because Justin’s hot sauce is full of history and meaning, it only made sense for the packaging to reflect that. The quirky octopus illustration paired with the arched typography creates a design that looks like it’s meant for a street-style brand but somehow effortless balances a Mom & Pop shop type beat.

So sure, hot sauces might all be filled with character, but Bachan’s is doing the most.

Bachan’s original recipe is inspired by Justin’s Bachan (‘Granny’ in Japanese), who taught Justin her secret family ‘teriyaki-ish’ recipe when he was growing up. At 86-years-old, she is still inspiring Justin’s new flavor creations which pay homage to the sauces they created in his childhood.

Like all of Bachan’s saucesHot & Spicy is:

  • Cold-filled: The sauce isn’t heated to a high temperature in production before bottling – this means that no artificial or “natural” flavoring is needed to account for flavor loss that happens when you pasteurize a product. All the flavor in Bachan’s is 100% natural.
  • Small Batch: Every batch is tasted at the kettle and approved by the Bachan’s fam before it goes out. That means that you only get the freshest of fresh!
  • Authentic IngredientsBachan’s follows the Japanese philosophy of minimalistic cooking – when all ingredients are fresh and flavorful, less is more! Bachan’s is completely preservative free, non-GMO certified, and BPA-free.

After testing different peppers from all over the world for the Hot & Spicy, Justin landed on a naturally-fermented Red Jalapeno Pepper – it’s aged on the plant longer than the green jalapeno, giving it more heat and a sweeter taste. Bachan’s Hot & Spicy is made with soy, cane sugar, red jalapeno puree, mirin, tomato paste, ginger, green onion, rice vinegar, garlic, and organic toasted sesame oil.
