Kraft And Van Leeuwen Partner For Limited-Edition Mac & Cheese Ice Cream

by Rudy Sanchez on 07/14/2021 | 2 Minute Read

Folks getting wild this summer with sweet and savory flavor combinations hasn’t stopped with mustard and watermelon, with Kraft Heinz and Brooklyn-based ice cream maker Van Leeuwen teaming up to release a limited flavor in time for National Mac and Cheese Day, July 14th. Made with Kraft Mac & Cheese, the new ice cream will be available at Van Leeuwen locations and online.

Pints and containers for the unconventional flavor mash-up feature Kraft’s signature blue and elbow macaroni “smile” and sports a dominant Van Leeuwen wordmark. The packaging keeps it simple, straightforward, and very on-brand, with the Kraft blue and yellow along with a single noodle serving as enough of a prelude to the curious ice cream contained within.

“We know that there is nothing more refreshing on a hot summer day than ice cream. That is why we wanted to combine two of the most iconic comfort foods to create an ice cream with the unforgettable flavor of Kraft Macaroni & Cheese we all grew up with,” said Emily Violett, senior associate brand manager for Kraft Macaroni & Cheese, via press release. “As big fans of Van Leeuwen, we knew they’d be the perfect partner to create this ice cream with us. Not only does it taste delicious, but it’s also made with high-quality ingredients and contains no artificial flavors, preservatives, or dyes just like our Kraft Macaroni & Cheese.”

Though Kraft has officially sanctioned mac and cheese for breakfast, neither they nor Van Leeuwen has recommended having a bowl of ice cream to start the day.
