The oft-repeated âall that glitters is not goldâ is a truth one beer drinker came to find out is disappointingly true after finding out his lucky find wasn’t worth its weight in the shiny stuff.
According to UK news outlet The Guardian, Mark Craig from Lisburn, Northern Ireland, who had won one of 50 âsolid goldâ cans from a recent BrewDog promotion, was left crestfallen when he discovered his prize was made mostly of inexpensive brass. Initially, he hoped to fund his wedding with the Wonka-esque contest, but the can came with a gold plating only three microns thick.
Another winner, Adam Dean, told the BCC that he reached out to the firm that produced the cans, goldsmith Thomas Lyte, who told Dean that the value of the can was approximately £500.
