Lost Rivers Champions The Lesser-Known

Each label on the Lost Rivers' cans, designed by Forty Eight Point One, is a collage created and inspired by the rivers they were named after. The color tones are rich and mysterious and help establish a distinctive look and feel for the brand while still maintaining a cohesive collection. The wordmark encapsulates the brand's mission of seeking out the unfamiliar. The can's labels are simple, yet look closer, and you'll find yourself enamored with the details.

Founded in 2018, Lost Rivers is an ambitious, London-based craft beer brand, named after the hidden waterways winding their way through the capital.

As they looked to expand the business, they were keen to establish a more distinctive look and feel for the brand that could grow internationally.

We were charged with developing a packaging system and brand identity that would stay true to their East End roots, convey their passion for championing the lesser-known, and uncelebrated, and help them stand out in a fiercely competitive and crowded marketplace.

A new wordmark, utilising a forgotten typeface discovered on a crumbling sign in Soho, encapsulated the brand’s ‘seek out the unexpected and unfamiliar’ ethos and helped set the tone for what followed.

With a range of new beers ready to be launched, we created a series of distinctive collages that subtly drew inspiration from the rivers they were named after.

Striking enough to grab the attention of the casual drinker, they presented intriguing visual cyphers, ready to be decoded by the more committed and curious.

We then developed a rich, colourful, and, at times, wilfully odd tone of voice to capture the spirit of the hidden city, and the singular, maverick characters that inhabit it.

A match for the brand’s new visual identity, it rewarded the curious who were prepared to dig that little bit deeper.
