Let’s Talk About Your Spice Drawer With Occo

I didn’t truly realize that my mom is no chef until the day I moved out. Don’t worry; she’s aware and fully admits that cooking is not her forte. She’s convinced that her taste buds don’t work properly because she’s the kind of person who doesn’t understand how people, particularly my dad, brother, and I, enjoy food and flavors at the level we do. Because of this, we grew up in a household with a spice drawer lacking in flavors other than “salt” and “expired nutmeg.”
If there’s one thing my mom did get right in not supplying the spices, it’s the fact that the packaging is grossly un-environmental, and the contents almost always lose their flavors before you can finish the container. That and they’re outrageously overpriced.
Occo is a new brand that has completely revolutionized the spice industry. By developing aluminum pods of premeasured portions of high-quality spices, not only can you use them before they expire or seal them up for later use, but the aluminum is phenomenal for sustainability as well.
SDCO Partners developed the molecule-based logo for the brand. Calling attention to the nitrogen that plays a significant role in sealing in the freshness and the circular shape of the pods themselves, the logo is simply clever and cleverly simple.
Funeral.Studio was tasked with developing both the packaging and color palette and the founders of Occo, Lisa and Connie, chose the aluminum container as it’s 100% recyclable, compared to plastic. The packaging is compact, eco-friendly, vividly colorful, and most importantly, the host of organic, fair trade, single-origin, and small-batch spices.
So go ahead and clean out your spice drawer and make room for Occo. Or, if you’re anything like my mom, the brand even has recipe cards with the spices included.
