Budweiser Releases Utah-Themed Limited-Edition Cans

The throne might be in St. Louis, Mo, but 1,300 miles away, the King of Beers has been campaigning to be Utah’s state beer.
Last year’s stunt included a fictional Utahn “Jed” driving the push to make Bud the state beer. The Anheuser-Busch InBev beer brand also promised exclusive beer labels for the Beehive State should the Twitter account get 84,499 mentions or retweets.
Budweiser hasn’t earned the title of Utah’s state beer yet, but that hasn’t stopped them from releasing the limited-edition labels, which features landmarks from the state, including the Capitol, the Wasatch Mountains, and Delicate Arch. Tweaks to copy includes this “This Bud’s for U-tah.” Available only in Salt Lake City through May 7th, this makes Utah the first state in the US with a custom Bud label.
The corniness goes beyond the copy on the label, as the campaign will include Utah’s favorite swear words, like “Holy Shizz,” “Oh my heck,” and “Frick Yeah.” The promotion also includes swear jars placed at select retail locations, with collected money supporting the Utah Clean Water Partnership. Finally, a “Swear, Sip, and Ski” sweepstakes has winners going on a trip to Snowbird, Utah, for some isolation and freedom to shake off pandemic-related stresses.
It remains to be seen if the new cans and advertising campaign win Utahns over, but Bud is thirsting pretty hard for the honor.
