A Taste For Untamed Nature With Mac-Talla

Thirst Craft designed the facade for Mac-Talla, a family-owned Scotch brand based in Scotland. Above all, the Morrison family values history, tradition, and their home in Islay. With that said, their expertise with whiskey distillation shines through with their Mac-Talla whiskey, which is offered in three varieties. While each bottle boasts the same label and logo, based off the formatting of old train and airplane tickets, each bottle is color coded accordingly to reflect the symbolism of each type of whiskey's name. The unique hand-drawn sketches on each bottle’s label further emphasize the attention-to-detail of their entire process.

There’s no place like Islay, Scotland. Steeped in tradition, shaped by the elements, it’s long been a breeding ground for greatness. Great history, great legacy, andof coursegreat whiskey. For generations, the Morrison family has sought to bottle this greatness. Time and time again, they have answered the island’s call, at the mercy of its weather-beaten shores. The result is Mac-Talla.

Carved by the Terra, Mara, and Strata at the very heart of Islay, it’s a taste of the untamed that leaves a lasting impression. Meaning ‘echo’ in Gaelic, Mac-Talla takes you on a taste journey across the island of Islay. Selecting the best single malt whiskies to showcase the variety and depth across different strengths, ages, and maturations.

There are three whiskies in the launch range: a classic Islay expression, a cask strength expression, and a 15-year aged expression. Borrowing from the visual language of travel, we created a ticket inspired layout that tells a story of the liquid inside and encourages the drinker to start their journey into the world of Islay whiskey.

Each label is layered with the texture of foils and embossing reminiscent of stamps and finishes on old travel tickets. There are also three cuts taken from the top label to symbolize the three generations of the Morrison Family, who have been involved with whisky from Islay for years. The signature Morrison bottle, in a rich olive color, is used to convey cues of pleated Islay whiskies and a touch of smoke, passport-style etched illustrations. These images capture scenes and stories from the island as a finishing touch. A range of whiskies that, like the island they came from, echo in the memory for evermore.
