A Label Design As Bare and Whole As Their Food

My Creative is the team responsible for the packaging details of Barefaced food. Allowing for Barefaced food to use the many brilliant colors of the fruits and vegetables at their disposal, My Creative incorporated a die-cut feature, framing the food through the label’s monochromatic and edgy design. Through their labeling and design, they are able to directly share their straightforward recipes with their customers. Also, a font as stripped and simple as the overall design further drives the message home that the food provided and prepared is all natural, clean, and pure.

Barefaced food® is a vibrant, plant-based food brand in Ayrshire, Scotland that delivers fresh and inventive pre-packed vegan meals, made to order. As such, they focus their energies on preparing and delivering fresh, high quality, nutrient-rich, plant-based food. Specializing in their very own Barefaced Buddha Bowls (a perfectly balanced nutritional powerhouse in a bowl), they also offer healthy ready-made soups, hot pots, snacks, and treats. All the food is colorful, fragrant, full of texture and, of course, delicious!

My Creative aimed to create a brand that was clean and inviting, looked nutritious, and did not clash with the naturally colorful food they had to offer. The final brand identity was simple, using its own Mono font created especially for Barefaced food®. This was paired with a set of illustrations made from spray painting fruit and vegetable shaped stencils. These would be used sparingly when there was no way to frame the real food within the design. These were also used to illustrate the 16+ meal cards and provide engaging content for social media.

The packaging was again simple in design and to reproduce, clearly communicating the ingredients and putting the food on display. They use composable Vegware bowls, so as to be as sustainable as possible. The labeling takes up a small proportion of the prepared meal and features a die-cut window, framing the real food within the design itself—linking the food and identity as one.

The fresh minimalism helped communicate the health and quality of the product best! Along with simply designed compostable packaging in a bright, open, interior space, we could easily convey the brand’s values. This project was a pleasure to work on in order to help bring nutritious and delicious plant-based food your way.
