We celebrate Valentine’s Day every February 14th, and while the holiday is now about as far removed as it can be from its wildly dark beginnings, it has turned into a commercial behemoth. Thousands of CVS aisles drape themselves in the colors of red and pink, hoping to entice those last-minute lovers and cheapskates, and the Greeting Card Association (yes, that’s a thing) estimates that some 145 million cards get exchanged every year.
