Neenah Refreshes Classic Paper Swatchbooks, Improving Integration With Adobe Swatch Pro

Specialty paper manufacturer Neenah has announced a refresh to its Classic paper swatchbooks that makes bringing designs from digital workspaces to the physical world, including a significant revamping of the numbering system, optimized for the Neenah Swatch Pro extension for Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.
Building on Neenah’s Swatch Pro add-on, the revamped paper swatch books streamline the process of choosing and using paper for projects designed within Adobe’s suite of creative software. The new numbering system and consolidation of the Classic paper swatchbooks also make it easier to communicate paper selection beyond the studio, as the identification number gets sent along with the print files.
“While our team was working remotely and sharing files, we said to ourselves there must be a better way to connect the physical swatchbook to our digital desktop,” Pum Lefebure, co-founder and CCO of Design Army, said via press release. “Previously, we worked on the creation of Neenah Swatch Pro, allowing designers to simulate Neenah colors and textures in Adobe Creative Cloud programs, and it did not take us long to put a ‘phygital’ formula together. We had an aha moment: why don’t we assign a unique number to every paper color and texture and make it even easier to pull a paper choice on screen? Designers know what they want when they see it, and this is a simple, streamlined way to have it populate right into your design. The spec is accurately captured in the file for the printer, eliminating any guesswork on their part.”
As part of the launch of the revamped swatch books, Neenah also released a mini-promotional called The Perfect Canvas 2, and it highlights the role paper selection has on a project by presenting the same design on different materials. The Perfect Canvas 2 explores how characteristics such as texture, color, foils, and ink can evoke different feelings and influence messaging.
