The Antetokounmpo brothers clearly spent plenty of time on the basketball courts in Sepolia, Greece, but when they aren’t honing their balling skills, Giannis, Francis, Thanasis, Kostas, and Alex are playing Mattel’s classic card game UNO with each other. The fast-paced and colorful game with plenty of twists and opportunities for fraternal ownage is a perfect fit for a family of competitive athletes. Now, the Milwaukee Bucks all-star has teamed up with Nike and Mattel to create a unique UNO deck, sneaks, and apparel featuring the Greek Freak and UNO’s bold palette.
“I want every product to be genuine and authentic, and playing UNO with my brothers is a big part of our lives,” NBA superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo said via press release. “The Nike team has done a great job bringing my ideas to life, and I think they’ve created something for every Nike, UNO, and basketball fan in this collection.”
Giannis’ UNO deck features an always aesthetically on-point black background and Nike’s swoosh, replacing the brand name with the NBA star’s nickname “Freak.” Antetokounmpo’s logo also features on some cards, and the deck includes a special “force a turnover” rule, letting a player steal an additional discard. The Nike gear makes excellent use of the signature UNO colorway, along with the card game’s 50th-anniversary logo, as well as nods to Giannis.
UNO x Antetokounmpo decks will be available on MattelCreations.com and NTWRK starting November 11th, with related apparel, shoes, and accessories available in the coming months.
