Chanel Announces New Bio-Based Bottle Cap

by Rudy Sanchez on 10/25/2021 | 1 Minute Read

Fashion brand Chanel introduced a line of fragrances inspired by Mademoiselle Coco Chanel’s favorite places in the world called Les Eaux De Chanel in 2018 with consideration for the environment from conception. The brand made the bottles for the new line lighter, while the outer packaging is void of lamination or coatings, making it easier to recycle.

The French house has announced the latest improvement, introducing a bottle cap made from 91% bio-based materials sourced from renewable and FSC-certified sources.

The new cap is the result of a two-year collaboration with Finnish startup Sulapac. The new cap consists of three layers, and they designed it to Chanel’s exacting and meticulous standards. Taking 48 tries, Chanel scrutinized every experiential detail, such as the grip, the click sound when closed, and the satin finish of the brand’s logo.

“This first product launch of our collaboration with Chanel, the biobased Les Eaux De Chanel cap made with Sulapac material, is a remarkable milestone for us. It proves that Sulapac meets the highest quality standards,” said Suvi Haimi, CEO and co-founder of Sulapac, in an announcement.

The new caps are already in use on all 125 ml bottles in Les Eaux De Chanel’s range of fragrances.
