People have competed in athletic competitions for millennia, but the advent of scientifically formulated sports recovery is relatively new, with Gatorade first coming into play in 1965. Since then, these beverages have become permanent fixtures on the stage of sport at all levels.

For the modern athlete that wants to keep their temple clean of artificial ingredients and sugar, conventional sports drinks can present a problem. The barcode on the front serves as both logo and portal to an AR experience that provides more information about the beverages. Set against a white background, flavors such as watermelon and lemon-lime get distinguished with blocks of color underneath the barcode.
