Zippo Constellation Limited Edition Packaging Is Inspired By The Stars

The packaging of constellation lighters represents Zippo’s core value, “We inspire.” The lighters are under a high-end product line for Zippo with each lighter design based on different zodiac signs.

To provide a comprehensive collection for Zippo enthusiastic, the packaging was exclusively developed as a limited edition with only a hundred units produced. The packaging engages the user by lighting up the zodiac signs. It enhances the esthetic aspect of the packaging and highlights the concept in a unique way. The structure of the packaging is designed specifically so it can stand upright and the lighters can be displayed on the surface.

The overall shape of the inner packaging was inspired by a spaceship. The surface of the plate is designed with a simple and abstract image which represents beautiful stars at night. To deliver a mysterious image of the night, the design uses simple esthetics by using predominately black and gold as an accent color.

One of the unique features of the packaging is that it engages the user by lighting up the zodiac signs which is very inspiring. It enhances the esthetic aspect of the packaging and highlights the concept in a unique way. The lighters were arranged according to the zodiac signs.

The packaging is user friendly with several useful functions. The outbox has two layers to separate the display plate from other accessories, such as small black boxes as well as a USB cable. The small black box is exclusively produced by the Zippo US team and you can put the lighters inside for safe shipping. On the display plate, the twelve lighters can be directly placed on top of it as magnets are attached underneath. By pulling out a triangular bar which is hidden on the back side of the packaging, you can easily make the display plate stand.

The unique and innovative packaging solution differentiates from other packaging as well as supports Zippo’s core brand message, “We inspire.”

The light effect shines through the small dots on the surface of the packaging. It is turned on, one by one and is connected together to create different zodiac signs. At the end of the light effect, the lights are slowly breathing. The effect can be charged by using a USB cable which is enveloped in the outbox packaging.

We always consider sustainability when it comes to deciding packaging materials. Predominately paper was used to create the packaging. On top of that, the matte black texture emphasizes the shiny golden lighters and is a stark contrast.

Furthermore, the special light effect is rechargeable with an enveloped USB cable and it lasts for twelve hours once it is fully charged. It definitely improves cost and energy efficiency.
