EarthSuds Brings Plastic-Free Toiletries To Travelers And Hotels

In 2017, Canadian teen Marissa Vettoretti was witnessing a growing awakening to the effects of plastic upon the environment, especially concerning single-use plastics such as straws and shopping bags. She started asking herself what other single-use plastics are out there and was inspired to explore the topic.
While participating in a student design competition, she learned that the tiny amenity bottles you find in a hotel aren’t recyclable. Inspired, she and other like-minded folks got together to create an alternative to traditional bath products that are plastic-free.
Dubbed EarthSuds, they initially focused on the hospitality market but found that their shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and hand soaps also appealed to travelers because the dry, solid cleansers do not fall under TSA liquid restrictions. Plus, they loved that they were both lightweight and compact. EarthSuds even offers an “AirBnB” kit specifically designed for the sustainably-conscious host. For travelers, a metal tin that can hold up to 15 tabs is made available.
The bath products come housed in plastic-free packaging, and they're also vegan, sulfate-free, paraben-free, and cruelty-free. While EarthSuds cuts out stuff like plastics, sulfates, and paraben, it doesn’t skimp on quality and skin-friendly ingredients like argan oil, vitamin E, and jojoba oil.
Perhaps Ms. Vettoretti’s timing is auspicious, as California’s ban on single-use toiletries packaged in plastic will start in 2023, with many hotel operators already phasing out the tiny plastic bottles.
