Stranger & Stranger Brings Some Wild Life To Drew Martin's Pre-Rolls

by Rudy Sanchez on 08/26/2020 | 3 Minute Read

Drew Martin, a James Beard Award-winning mixologist and seasoned world traveler, has designed a line of signature pre-rolled joints, made with sun-grown Mendocino cannabis and added botanicals. The new pre-rolls are meant for sharing socially, and just strong enough to catch a mellow buzz to enhance any gathering of friends. Though the smoking circles are more virtual and digital these days, Martin’s pre-rolls can still enhance a Zoom sesh, and, as a plus, no one’s going to complain about someone else bogarting the joint.

The botanical pre-rolls come in four varieties, each meticulously blended to deliver a unique flavor and experience. Rose Petals and Peppermint is both cool and sweet, while Chamomile, Calendula, and Yerba Santa is mellow and grassy. Lavender and Passionflower is woody and floral, and Ginger, Damiana, and Lemon Balm is spicy and fresh.

Each set of four pre-rolls gets packaged in an exquisite slide-out box, designed by agency Stranger & Stranger, perfect for an elegant start to any smoking session. For those that can't decide and like all things Whitman's, The Collection consists of one joint of each of the brand's offerings as a sampler pack.

The packaging design was a memorable one for Stranger & Stranger, as it was the first cannabis project brought to market that they worked on. The agency was brought in at the inception and received ample freedom to steer the ship and define the visual identity of the brand, leading them to design a package worthy of a premium, expertly-crafted smoke designed for a distinctive cannabis experience.

“Drew and his team knew that our work would be foundational to the brand they were building from scratch, so he really didn’t give us much of a brief except to describe who he was and what he was making, which sounded exciting and premium, and so the pack just had to take people on that journey,” says Joy Hallman, Studio Principal San Francisco & Creative Services Director, Stranger & Stranger.

All four boxes feature illustrations by Berlin-based artist Sasha Ignatiadou, as well the Collection sampler, and they create a lush psychedelic jungle printed on premium card and paper. Metal foil and smart, classy typography round out the stoner luxe look of each box, each as unique as the botanical-boosted pre-rolled joints housed inside.
