Sustainable Household Cleaning Brand Blueland Introduces Two Dishwashing Innovations

Published

Fans of Blueland have some new products they can play with.

This past month, the sustainable household cleaning brand released two new dishwashing products; a powdered dish soap for handwashing, and a tablet for the dishwasher. Both products are another milestone for the brand, as they want to eliminate plastic from our everyday household cleaners.

The powdered dish soap goes inside Blueland’s refillable, silicone shaker—just shake the soap onto a sponger and, voila, you can get to washing. Once you run out, you can buy a refill packet that comes in compostable packaging.

For the dishwasher tablets, you can buy a starter kit that comes with a beautifully designed reusable steel tin. Best of all, the tablets themselves are naked, meaning there’s no layer of plastic or PVA coating the cleaner like other products on the market. Without the plastic film, consumers can rest easy knowing that they won’t be leaching plastic into our waterways every time they run the dishwasher. According to the brand, the average home uses five tubs of dishwashing tablets, resulting in 300 washes that come with detergents wrapped in single-use plastic.

“From the moment we launched, the number one product our customers have asked us for is dish soap and dishwasher tablets,” said Sarah Paiji Yoo, co-founder and CEO of Blueland in a press release. “We worked hard to develop a tablet that wasn’t wrapped in a plastic PVA film to ensure we weren’t putting more plastic into our waterways.”

Both of the dishwashing products are also Cradle to Cradle Certified by the MBDC (industry leaders in the certification of material health assessment), as Blueland’s offerings have undergone rigorous scrutiny to showcase their sustainable bona fides. Earning a platinum level in material health certificates, the highest level attainable, the brand’s ingredients, packaging materials, and entire supply chain ensure that these non-toxic, biodegradable cleaners are safe for the planet.

The dishwashing sets are available now from Blueland, as well as subscriptions for refills.
