Pringles Refreshes Mascot Mr. P After Twenty Years

Pringles’ mascot, Mr. P, has been rocking the same look for 20 years and the Kellogg’s owned brand felt he was due for a makeover.

“We spent the last two years in research and design to create a modern look for the cans and Mr. P’s style that reflects the bold flavor in every Pringles crisp and stack,” said Gareth Maguire, senior director of marketing for Pringles via press release.

Mr. P’s new look ditches the unfashionable mid-part hairdo, adds a pair of expressive eyebrows, and streamlines his facial hair. The bowtie also gets sharpened up, giving the mascot a clean, contemporary look. Even the can gets a new look, emphasizing the stackability of the chips, as well as the ingredients contained, as they gracefully float about.

To debut the mascot’s new and hip look, Pringles teamed up with former NFL football champion and “glow up” king Victor Cruz. The Superbowl winner is known for his sense of style and fashion and is also promoting Mr. P’s new look with a social media contest where lucky winners win $1,500 for their own end-of-year “glow up.” Fans post on social media their favorite Pringles flavor with the hashtag #FreshAsMrPEntry.

The refresh will start appearing on Pringles’ Scorchin’ line this month, with the entire line updated in early 2021. Now, if they could just get that paper tube to go global before 2025...
