Fall In Love With Volta Pasta

by Shawn Binder on 10/21/2020 | 2 Minute Read

Lady and the Tramp isn't the only iconic love story with a meet-cute over a plate of pasta. The design for Volta features a rich, vivid blue and a charming line drawing of two people enjoying a glass of wine over dinner.

The typography-focused design utilizes the wavy ridges of pasta to convey personality and a deep personal connection to the product. The thick lines through the identity gives a nod to the humble noodle and the tools we use to shovel them into our pieholes. Cartoonish illustrations also provide another way for the consumer to see themselves in the product.

Volta is an Italian restaurant located in the heart of Osaka. The owners (the chef and his wife) met in Italy while they were traveling separately. They fell in love, and opened up the Italian restaurant together after they got married.

We wanted to portrait this love story with the illustration throughout the design, where two people are drinking wine together and enjoying each other's company, just like how the owners met in Italy. In addition, we wanted to put the focus on typography to incorporate the shape of pasta.
