Kiva Unleashes a CBN Gummy So You Can Catch Some Z’s

As society course corrects its attitude towards marijuana, a lot of intrepid folks are isolating cannabinoids and gaining a better understanding of what compounds are responsible for certain effects and creating products tailored for specific ailments.

Kiva, makers of cannabis-infused edibles, has developed a gummy called Midnight Blueberry, a specially made treat for the sleep-weary under their Camino brand, which features the cannabinoid CBN.

CBN, or cannabinol, is a compound not usually found in significant quantities in raw cannabis as it is usually the product of THC breaking down in aged plants. While known for its sedative effects, sourcing and isolating CBN is much more involved than its cannabinoid cousins THC and CBD.  Cannabidiol (CBD ) is understood to induce a sense of calm and help bring on sleep, but some may find CBN more effective, as not everyone responds to cannabis and its compounds in the same manner.

“CBN is the new cannabinoid on the block, and we’re excited to introduce it to people who have yet to discover its benefits,” said Christie Strong, spokesperson for Kiva. “Many may find that the effects are superior to other sleep-enhancing products, while others may prefer their existing products.”

The Camino Sleep packaging features a dark blue night sky set in the forest, with a lone tent in the background, by a lake. Staring at the serene backdrop alone can make eyelids start to feel heavy but in a healthy way. Most of the typography is sharp and crisp, with “sleep” set in a lazy, leaning script.

Each serving contains 1mg of CBN, 5mg THC, and additional calming ingredients such as terpenes, chamomile, and lavender oils. It will be available starting this month.
