People love to slather mustard, especially the mild and very yellow variety, onto hot dogs since French’s introduced it to the public at the 1904 World’s Fair. The classic condiment is critical for other classic summer cookout staples likes cheeseburgers and potato salad, but would it work as a dessert?
Ice cream wizards Coolhaus and the mustard masters at French’s set out to make it happen, proving that the love of ice cream knows no bounds.
The 115-year-old condiment gets its signature yellow from turmeric, and the hue provides the ice cream with a unique look augmented by Coolhaus's bright and colorful cups, which are as cheery and fun as going out for a scoop of cold deliciousness, and a helpful reminder that ice cream time is party time.
“As lovers of sweet-meets-savory, pure ingredients and unique creations, we are incredibly excited to be collaborating with French's Mustard in creating this one-of-a-kind product. It's been so fun to explore this classic condiment in a whole new way and create an unforgettable thoughtfully-crafted ice cream flavor with an All-American taste,” said Coolhaus CEO & founder Natasha Case in apress release.
Coolhaus’ Culver City location will be offering up scoops of the mellow yellow treat August 2-4 and August 9-11, as well as hitting the streets of New York and the Hamptons through August 3rd in a French’s Mustard ice cream truck.
If you can’t make it to truck or Coolhaus, French’s has made available a no-churn recipe for mustard-curious savages out there.
