Get Bold With Glossier Play

by Casha Doemland on 03/05/2019 | 2 Minute Read

Founded by Emily Weiss in 2014, Glossier became known for its minimalistic approach that essentially translates to no-makeup-makeup—staples like Boy Brow that have your eyes looking full, flawless and natural or their Lip Gloss that's perfect for a pouty lip without any of the stickiness.

While these products have made Glossier a serious contender in the beauty world, Weiss felt it was necessary to launch Glossier Play, an offshoot of the company that focuses on bolder, vibrant looks for the days or nights when you want that extra something.

Today, she's introduced four new products as part of the Play line. Colorside is a gel eye pencil in a wide range of colors of like Disaster Glass or Sparkler Shark, all of which will deliver a winged eyeliner you wish came into your life sooner. Glitter Gelée will help your eyes pop in one of their four, sparkly shades, Vinylic Lip to achieve the iconic red lip in various pigments and Niteshine, a liquid highlighter, to illuminate those cheekbones for the gods.

The fun doesn't stop at the products though. The packaging is equally as playful with retro-inspired typography against a clean background that makes you feel like you've stepped back into the 70s."

Of course, Weiss plans to launch more collections and products in the future but is in no rush to do so. Instead, she's paying attention to what consumers want via social media and her blog, Into The Gloss, crafting coveted products that consumers can wear year round.

After closing a substantial $52 million of funding in 2018, it’s safe to say there will be more exciting beauty drops in the not-so-distant future.
