Corona Builds Wall Made From Plastic Waste To Warn About Dangers Of Plastic Pollution

Rio de Janeiro’s picturesque beach Ipanema is known for sunsets (it is tradition to applaud when the sun dips below Dois Irmãos), chic boutiques and eateries and insanely attractive people. Unfortunately, like many other popular coastal destinations, its natural beauty is under threat from plastic trash.

Beaches ruined by plastic garbage is a real concern. According to Ocean Conservancy, the top ten items their volunteers collected from coastal cleanup are all made of plastic.  In the UK, one study found that 90% of waste along the coastline was plastic and that the majority of that trash found was, in fact, plastics that were partially broken down in the ocean.

Reported by Campaign UK, Corona in partnership with Parley for the Oceans, an organization dedicated to raising awareness and finding solutions to plastic ocean pollution, built a wall in front of the iconic Brazilian beach made entirely from beach trash.
