Now Serving Lucky Charms Beer For Breakfast

Many a youth misspent their Saturday mornings watching cartoons with a bowl of cereal, getting sugary, manic rushes all morning before being forced to go play outside by a parental unit. Virginia's Smartmouth Brewing Company wants to bottle that sense of nostalgia with their latest brew, “Saturday Morning.”

Saturday Morning is a 6.6% ABV IPA, brewed with in-house toasted and dehydrated marshmallow bits, precisely the kind you'd find in one of breakfast’s finest bowl-delivered meals. Smartmouth uses Galaxy and Calypso hops, and they describe the beer as having a sweet and citrus nose. With orange and pear aromas, the brew has a soft pillowy body with a slight hint of cereal taste.

The can's design is a clear nod to General Mill’s mainstay Lucky Charms with its playful font, technicolor-bright rainbow, and eight magical charms.

Saturday Morning isn’t the category's first foray into cereal-inspired brews, and it's preceded in part by beers like Brew Rebellion’s similarly named Saturday Morning Cartoons Breakfast Cereal Milk Stout (brewed with Fruity Pebbles) and Slumbrew’s Saturday Morning Belgian ale (made with Crunchberry cereal).

Is beer brewed with breakfast cereal possibly the grossest idea ever or fried chicken-and-waffles-level genius? Your best bet at getting your hands on this monstrous creation is to attend the “Saturday Morning All Day” launch event, as Smartmouth can't ship outside of Virginia and they will have a limited release.
