Sustainable Grooming Company Natural Vegan Sets Out To Make World’s First Compostable Eco-Bottle

Consumers are looking for more sustainable products, including beauty and personal care items, which can generate excessive waste, 120 billion units by one estimate, much of which is plastic.
Plastic isn’t just used for packaging, but even disposable grooming items, such as razors, combs, toothbrushes, and body scrubbers. Unlike the ancient pyramids, the non-plastic bathroom is still in living memory, and in the face of an environmental crisis, some are revisiting the recent past and creating personal care products out of natural ingredients that come packaged sustainably.
One of those companies is the Canada-based Natural Vegan, whose personal care products are biodegradable, cruelty-free, vegan, and free of palm oil, sulfates, silicone, dyes, paraben, aluminum, gluten, soy, and foaming agents. Not only is the packaging eco-friendly and compostable, but so are their toothbrushes, unlike other bamboo brushes on the market; the bristles are made of bamboo and dipped in a biopolymer. Their loofahs are also all-natural and made from dried and processed Luffa gourds.
One challenge to creating a plastic-free, circular personal grooming line is how to safely and securely ship liquid products in a plastic-free bottle that can survive in the damp environment of the bathroom. Natural Vegan is working towards being the first to create a market-viable, eco-friendly bottle, after having a successful Kickstarter that exceeded stretch goals.
