Christmas may be more than 6 months away, but that doesn’t mean we can’t appreciate a good piece of holiday packaging. Together Design created this stunning packaging for high-end UK chocolate brand Charbonnel et Walker.

“Life is but a stage…

Founded in 1875, Charbonnel et Walker is one of the UK's earliest and finest chocolatiers. Endorsed by the Royal Warrant as one of the few chocolatiers to Her Majesty The Queen, the company's rich heritage weaves together a magnificent patronage of colourful characters from royalty and aristocracy to socialites and screen legends, including Princess Diana, Princess Margaret, Sir John Gielgud, Lauren Bacall and Noel Coward (who requested a box of their finest selections to be delivered to his home every fortnight).

Charbonnel et Walker’s chocolates are handmade using the finest ingredients, and the brand is equally renowned for its packaging, with beautifully presented hand-made boxes and satin ribbons making them the perfect gift for every occasion.”

“Together Design was briefed to create packaging for Charbonnel et Walker's Christmas 2017 gift collection. As always, we needed to present their exquisite chocolates in a way that reflects their heritage, hints at the luxuriousness of the chocolates and brings the magic of the season to life in order to capture the imagination of buyers and recipients alike.”

“Our work was applied to a range of packaging formats, including round and square selection boxes, drums filled with crackers, baubles and an advent calendar as well as POS and the window displays for their flagship store in Old Bond Street, London.

Inspired by Victorian miniature paper theatres and fairytales, this year’s Christmas collection for Charbonnel et Walker is alive with colour and celebrates the magic of the entertainment of yesteryear. Flanked by plush red velvet curtains, dancing ballerinas and noblemen take centre stage in a variety of delightful scenes.”

“In this year’s collection Charbonnel et Walker wanted to build on a more traditional colour palette but a palette with a twist. Corals and pinks were added to the more traditional red and cyan and turquoise moved on the green to create a fresher and more modern feel. The illustrations have been offset with bold patterns to make them more contemporary.”

“The range is both beautiful and practical. We’ve taken care to ensure that the colours for this season marry well with the core range. The two ranges sit well together and feel like an integrated range, providing density and weight to instore displays.

Retailers were thrilled with this season’s design, stocking more this year than any previous years. Customers were thrilled too - Charbonnel et Walker itself sold out of the range weeks before Christmas.”
