For some, trekking to the grocery store can be a burdensome task that you don’t wish to complete, and so you avoid it at all costs until you find yourself eating Chinese takeout for the 10th night in a row and realize you need to make a change.

Lucky for you, Blue Apron, one of the most well-known food subscription services in America, is partnering up with Jet, an online shop for curated brands and city essentials owned by Walmart, to deliver fresh and easy to cook meals same-day or next-day to New York City tenants.

The partnership signifies a hail-mary pass to help Blue Apron, whose sales have dropped 24 percent in the second quarter with fallen shares of more than 70 percent over the year, expand beyond a subscription service.  That’s right, a subscription to Blue Apron is not required to order the meals off Jet.com.

The alliance is mutually beneficial as Blue Apron is giving Jet the credibility it requires to stand up against the delivery services like Amazon's Prime Service, Ahold Delhaize's Peapod and Fresh Direct.

As of Monday, four meals will be available, the seared steaks and peperonata with fregola Sarda pasta and Grana Padano cheese, dukkah-spiced beef and couscous with tahini-dressed broccoli,  and togarashi popcorn chicken with sweet chili slaw and jasmine rice, all for under $23.

Blue Apron CEO Brad Dickerson said, “Teaming up with Jet enables us to dynamically serve the lifestyle of metropolitan consumers, who will now be able to conveniently fill up their online shopping carts with high-quality Blue Apron meals that can be cooked in 30 minutes or less while shopping for other everyday needs.

If you live within the city limits of New York City, you've now got the added convenience of enjoying a quick and delicious Blue Apron meal without the wait. Just head over to Jet.com, order the meal you want, select the delivery time and wait for it to arrive at your door.

Between that and the affordability, you have nothing to lose and a home cooked meal to gain.
