Myro Makes Refillable Deodorant A Breeze

For most, applying deodorant right before you leave the house or as you’re getting ready is ingrained in your daily routine. But have you ever taken the time to read all the ingredients on the back of the label?

Five of the most common hazardous ingredients found in antiperspirants are aluminum, parabens, propylene glycol, triclosan and phthalates. Linked to health issues like breast cancer, kidney problems and skin irritation, you’ll find these ingredients in a wide array of personal care products.

For Myro founder Greg Laptevsky, reinventing deodorant in an eco-friendly, all-natural yet premium way was the goal. So, he polled millennial consumers and discovered 70% were unhappy with their antiperspirants, from natural to conventional.

“We think that by packaging the demand that is already in the market for an effective natural formula together with a better-for-the-environment design and a delightful brand experience that is targeted at millennials, we have a real winner,” says Laptevsky.

Together, with Deerfield, a design and branding agency, they did just that and launched Myro into the antiperspirant sphere with style and grace.

Myro is free of weird chemicals, and they rely on plant-powered and clean ingredients to keep your underarms fresh and feeling good. They’ve even developed a refillable and stylish container that helps you prevent putting more unnecessary plastic in a landfill.

“Inspired by the opportunity at hand, we engaged industrial studio Visibility to help us design premium refillable packaging with the planet in mind,” says Yael Eisele, partner & creative director at Deerfield. “We wanted to create something people would want to decorate their bathroom shelves with. In other words, this has to be Instagram-worthy and Visibility, given their modern yet minimal aesthetic, felt like the right partner to get us there.”

They created a molded case, available in five colors, that not only looks great but is functional, durable and even dishwasher safe. “Refills of plant-powered and yummy smelling deodorant plug into the eye-candy case as each rotation of a bottom dial mechanism allows more deodorant to be dispensed,” begins Melanie Wiesenthal, creative director & partner at Deerfield. “When empty, the refill pod pops out automatically on the last rotation.”

Each refill uses 50% less plastic than the average conventional deodorant and is easily recyclable.

Myro also has a super flexible subscription model that allows the pods to come directly to your door in packs of three to ensure there’s not a day that goes by where you can’t apply. The Myro Starter Kit costs a mere $10 for the first deodorant pot, and each of the refills is $10 a piece.

If you’re not happy with your deodorant, Myro even has a “Love It or Sent It Back, No Strings Attached” return policy.

You’ve got nothing to lose, and only clean, fresh armpits to gain.
