Edit, Undo: Meet The New Dieline

The goal of The Dieline is simple: to become the leading package design resource on the web.

This was the first ever sentence written on our site back in 2007, and we believe it still holds true today. We were the first ever packaging blog out there, and there’s no other place for designers quite like it.

Honestly, the site grew beyond what we could have imagined. To say we’re simply a packaging blog doesn’t quite suffice anymore, does it? We create our own original content with an in-house editorial team, we host a global design competition, and we’ve hosted over thirteen conferences across the US and Europe.

We are entering a new era in both our lives, as well as a new era for our industry. So in order to make this better for us, for you, and for the packaging design industry as a whole, we’re also entering a new era of our site.

Welcome to Dieline.

Dieline is our life’s work. When we met in college over fifteen years ago, we jointly developed an intense passion for packaging design. Getting to share that and help shape our industry has been, and continues to be, a great honor.

But Dieline is you, too. Which is why when we realized we desperately needed a rebrand, we couldn’t have asked anyone better to implement it than Jones Knowles Ritchie.

JKR has a history of helping brands (from America Beer to Dunkin’ Donuts) find their true voice. They got to the heart of what Dieline is and created a concept for our rebrand called Process. We write about the creative process of designing packaging and document it for you every day. This isn’t only about dielines—it’s also about the initial concepts, raw ideas, design and production, realization, the finished product, and the future.

Dieline is now a bespoke creative platform where you can create a Dieline Profile and upload your latest packaging and branding work in one hub. Even better, you can share your work with other packaging and branding designers around the globe so you can get your work the attention it deserves. Our new Boards give you an opportunity to save that article, feature, or project from the Dieline blog so that you can reference it later—all in one spot on your personal dashboard. Head here to learn all about our new features and get started.

Ultimately, we did this for the packaging and branding community because you deserve this custom platform. Our decade plus archive of package design content deserves it. This isn’t merely a redesign or a rebrand; instead, it’s a complete overhaul to focus more on the design community and the brands all of us love and cherish.

The power of Dieline and the future of our industry is now in your hands. We ask you for your help in building this community so we can continue to push our industry forward, together.

This is the Dieline of our dreams—the one we’ve always wanted. And it’s all for you.

So take a look around and let us know what you think. We’re pretty proud of it.

The new platform is in beta, so please bear with us while we work to make things perfect for you. If you want to send us some feedback, we would love to hear from you. Email us at [email protected]
