Fish prep just got easier. Chiapa Design developed this design for fish seasoning that pulls inspiration from the way that fish was traditionally bought and sold. We spoke with Chiapa Design to learn a bit more about achieving design goals, creating an eye-catching design and more.

Walk us through the design process that you went through for this project.

Chiapa Design: We started creating the concept by using the figure of the newspaper boy. We realized that we could join the picture with the image of a fish and create a link with the ancient habit of wrapping fresh fish with newspaper. The name already existed from previous ideas and we thought that it would be perfect if combined with seasonings for fresh fish preparation.

What was one of the biggest goals you set out to achieve with Jelly Fresh Seasoning packaging and how did you accomplish it?

Chiapa Design: Our aim was to create a concept that is fun, modern and singular at the same time and we think that we achieved it by using geometric shapes, bright colors and of course, the picture of the boy.

What was the most challenging part of this project?

Chiapa Design: We think that we didn't have challenges in this project. We like to create things that please us visually, and our team is always testing new and different ideas, so we can always present something original.

If you could pick one aspect of the finished design that you like the most or feel especially proud of, what would it be and why?

Chiapa Design: The picture of the boy, especially. We are happy with the final result. The image draws your attention to the whole package and then you can see all the elements working together.

Share one lesson that you learned while developing the finished product.

Chiapa Design: We like to think that every project, either if it is a real or a concept one, teaches us a lesson. We learn with the challenges, with small deadlines, with creating things that come out of our comfort zone and especially with ourselves.
