Imagine this: you’re at the bar, a few drinks in, and suddenly the entire crowd bursts into a rowdy song. You want to join in and you recognize the tune, but you don’t remember the words. Now imagine that your beer can has them right there for you, laid out so you can sing along with all of your new friends that night. Well, Chernygovske makes this a reality. BBDO Studio in Ukraine has implemented this genius idea, recognizing that beer drinking goes hand in hand with bonding with strangers, breaking out into boisterous song, and, of course, a little bit of forgetfulness.
“Sing ‘Chernigivske.’ The limited edition ‘Ukrainian songs’ is dedicated to Ukrainian Independence Day and contains lyrics of Ukrainian folk and popular songs that are easy to sing while responsibly enjoying Ukrainian product. Lettering and illustrations are performed by Ukrainian artists Victoria and Vitalina Lopukhiny.”

Chernygovske includes many elements that communicate deep Ukrainian pride. Drawings at the bottom of the can illustrate different landscapes and events, and the color palette is simple, primarily black and white with splashes of metallic red. Combined with an incredibly traditional font and carefully hand-drawn graphics and calligraphy, the overall design respects the country’s long and rich history while offering a totally new and enjoyable experience for today’s consumer.
