Gift-giving can be stressful, wouldn’t you agree? You’re never quite sure what to get the person, if they’ll like it or need it, and it’s hard to even figure out where to look or when you have the time to shop. Davana is an online gift-giving business that makes shopping for and giving presents easy, and their main goal is to make special occasions unforgettable. The company does the work for you, bundling goodies pertaining to a theme into one box.

Firmalt Agency was tasked with creating the design and packaging for Davana. It had to be specific enough to feel personal and special but also flexible in some ways to suit many different clients. The design is incredibly fluid, using geometric patterns and lovely colors to allow what’s inside to really stand out.

“Traditional blue and pink colors were chosen as Davana’s color palette, to make reference to the fact that the brand has both men and women gift boxes. Red and light green were added as contrasting colors, and are used throughout the brand’s collateral. The color palette is bright and colorful, communicating the joy and happiness of receiving a gift.”

Beyond the coloring, the entire concept is built on the idea that it is a lab where gifts are created, combining different elements and using different formulas to discover a scientific approach to happiness. The gifts could make anyone happy — they just need to be constructed in a certain way and contain the right items. Much like Santa’s workshop, Davana is branded as a “happiness factory” where the presents are carefully created and packed. As if the tender care that goes into each box isn’t enough, there are small graphics to create the illusion of faces on different shapes that will instantly put a smile on the gift receiver’s face.

“The branding concept explores the idea of a gift laboratory, playing with formulas and elements that depict a scientific approach to happiness. The logotype takes on the two dimensional drawing of a three dimensional box. The logo variations were developed as different characters to bring the brand to life.”
