It’s quite the challenge for a brand to achieve a design that is refined and funny at the same time. Hedgehog Whisky’s packaging by Lasuite Atelier has a personal, small business vibe with lots of charm. The Hedgehog distillery is located in France’s Troncais forest, which actually supplies the wood for the whiskey barrels. From there, the whiskey is bottled with the new label which features a simple illustration of a hedgehog packed with personality, further indicating that the company uses local resources to create the product but can also have mass appeal.

“The Hedgehog symbol adheres to industrial labelling codes in a way of representing a true artisanal product far from the complex and sophisticated science of marketing. Every inch of the label, printed on natural paper, is dedicated to specific technical information: composition, origin, description. Everything is simple and informative; it appears to be a very confidential product dedicated only to a few.”

“The typography highlights this ‘handmade’ feeling which is maximized by some handwritten indications. A tyre track is shown on the neck of the bottle — a humoristic touch depicting the often terrible destiny of hedgehogs — an invitation not to take the wheel after drinking!”
