After 105 years apart, the Yellowstone brand is finally reunited with the legendary Beam family. This Limited Edition release is a celebration of the reunion of the brand with the family that started it over a century ago. Only 6,000 bottles have been released – each hand numbered and signed by Master Distiller, Stephen Beam. It’s priced and marketed as a top-shelf, special edition and the dramatic and luxurious package design is an important part of projecting these values. Multiple layers of gold and metallic effects are accomplished by printing on a pearlized substrate and using metallic inks and foil stamping.

Original illustrations by Steven Noble were commissioned for this piece, which recall (and update) the historic art displayed on Yellowstone Whiskey packaging since the early Twentieth Century. The layout and typography design of the label and the paperboard tube which contain it are also inspired by historic Yellowstone Whiskey packaging and promotional items from the personal collection of distiller Steve Beam. Examples of the original Yellowstone “black label” were surprisingly difficult to find, even for the brand’s owner. In the end it was a vintage etched bar mirror which provided the greatest source of inspiration and reference to what the original design looked like. This 2015 package, however, is not a direct lift of that historic design, but a modernized and updated version, inspired by it. It is updated to be more relevant with today’s younger, sophisticated bourbon drinker, while respecting and honoring the brands legendary roots.
