The Kalala Organic Estate Winery is located on the upper bench of West Kelowna in the Okangan Valley in India, founded and owned by Karnail Singh Sidhu. The name originates from the owner’s grandparents, who as a boy told him a story about the village he was born in:

"The story says that long ago, in Northern Bharat, India, farmers were tending to their animals when they came across a wolf and lamb sitting together in a beautiful valley. This peaceful coexistence was so inspiring that they moved their village to this very spot, in hopes that the same harmony would be reflected in their village, and named it 'Miracle Place', or 'Kalala' in Punjabi.”

The owner felt this story reflected the Okanagan Valley and in the pursuit of growing his own grapes he always felt harmony with nature.

Seeking to convey this story with their packaging, Karnail Singh Sidhu turned to Also Known As to redesign a rooted identity system and packaging. Also Known As created a custom "mehndi" illustration by the talented illustrator Helen Eady to help visually tell the Kalala story. An Indian script was included on the top of each bottle to ensure their heritage was ingrained in the design. To compliment the illustration, a modern and bold layout was created along with a focused on providing high quality labels and finishings. This has been carried over into the full wine offering, along with specialty boxes created for a limited edition ice-wine collection.
