Concept: Gaiety

In honor of pride, Coley Porter Bell has created a tea concept that honors this celebration as well as their home base, London. The brand agency created the cleverly-named Gaiety concept – a range of three teas with designs that reference the idea of bringing ‘two of the same’ together. With the idea of unity the illustrations showcase teacups and teapots caring for one another and linked by their handles. The tea bags are also linked together in one bag.
"Last weekend saw Londoners celebrate the annual London Pride march, and while many likely celebrated with a harder beverage, Coley Porter Bell marked the occasion with a good old-fashioned cup of tea.
The brand agency has created the cleverly-named Gaiety concept – a range of three teas with designs that reference the idea of bringing ‘two of the same’ together. Packs show teacups and teapots with affectionately-linked handles and spouts; an idea carried through to inside the packs – all the teabags are linked together with one tag.
‘We liked the idea of starting with the ‘everyday’, says Coley Porter Bell. ‘We thought about how being gay in London in 2014 is less about rainbows and glitter (well, sometimes) and more about having a laugh with friends over a cup of tea!
‘If London Pride’s mission is to make LGBT+ acceptable everywhere everyday, what could be more everyday than a cuppa?’
The beautiful designs are complimented with smart back-of-pack copy against the idea of ‘putting people in a box’, because ‘that’s for teabags!’"
