Pepsi Launches New Craft Soda: Caleb’s Kola

PepsiCo has just announced the launch of an all new artisanal craft soda brand Caleb’s Kola, named after the inventor of Pepsi, Caleb Bradham. Fueled by the Millennial generation (people in their 20s and 30s), consumers have been gravitating towards products that use pure and simple ingredients, and feel authentic and honest. Caleb’s Kola is Pepsi’s response to this shift in consumer shopping habits.

The new soda comes in a 10-ounce glass bottle reminiscent of a bygone era. Caleb’s is made with just sparkling water, Fair Trade cane sugar, kola nut extract, and a “secured blend of brown spices from around the world.” Caleb’s is currently available at a handful of Costco locations around the country, with more retailers to come.

It will be fascinating to see if Coke, or other big soda brands follow with a similar approach.
