"Whether lacy wisps draping the oak trees, or spectacular whorls coating the rocks, lichen abound at Lichen Estate, a maker of premium still and sparkling wine in California’s Alexander Valley.
To the estate’s owner, Lichen is more than a pretty moss. The plants produce key nutrients and minerals, which permeate the vineyard’s soil after every rainfall, helping create a distinctive sense of terroir.
The estate produces five wines. Each bottle features a different form of lichen, screen-printed, or as we like to think, growing directly onto the glass."
