Woodinville Whiskey Co. has spun off a new brand: Barrelhead Foods Co. David Cole Creative  created a brand aesthetic that has a lot in commmon with Woodinville Whiskey Company, as they share many values (not to mention whiskey barrels), but there are some important differences that take this design out of the spirits category and onto the realm of breakfast edibles. The graphics aesthetic (and company name) are inspired by the no-nonsense markings found on actual whiskey barrelheads and old crates. These wood brands and stencils are used by distillers and farmers to identify their products. Little effort is put into making the barrelhead markings look pretty. They are functional and practical – yet they exude a beauty of their own – depending on the beholder. This design is a reference to those authentic barrelhead designs, with a hint of added polish to bring it all together.”

“The vibe is authentically hand made, American, warm and approachable – just like the products themselves.

Both products are aged in freshly-used bourbon and rye barrels at Woodinville’s distillery. The results are outstanding, with subtle and not-so-subtle hints of toasted oak, caramel, vanilla and whiskey mingling beautifully with the honey and maple syrup.”
