Student Spotlight: Instant Lunch

Japanese design student Kota Kobayashi takes on the Maruchan Instant Lunches line. Check it out below.
"When I was in college I ate my weight in Maruchan Instant Lunches. While cramming for biology finals or after the party with the late night munchies they were there. I may not have gotten through college without their help.
The initial concept for this rebranding is "On the go food." The concept was established based on two observations. First, one of the product's strongest features is that it can satisfy a stomach with in 3 minutes. Second, many eat it when they do not have much time.
I came up with a color coded system with flavor icon for easy and quick recognition of choices. The solid color covers 1/3 of the whole packaging to give each flavor recognition from far away. The highly readable typeface Helvetica was chosen also for its ability to provide a quick read."
